Lomi Lomi Ireland - School of Hawaiian Healing Arts
Aloha House is the home of Lomi Lomi Ireland. We live here as a family (Ohana) and also run our Lomi Lomi training retreats on the property. This adds a special dimension to our trainings, since traditionally Lomi Lomi was always family work.
We teach 4 levels of training in a particular style of Lomi Lomi known as Lomi Lomi Nui or Temple-Style, in the lineage of Kahu Abraham Kawai. We use our forearms & hands in a dynamic flowing rhythm all around the body, to increase mana (power) and release blockages in the body or energy, using our Ha (breath) & Pule (prayer) to create a sacred & spiritual element to the treatment.
Training is not just about learning the exquisite techniques. This is about getting more connected to your Self & community. Uncovering deeper layers. Letting Go. Opening your Heart. Connection. Breath. Aloha. Relationship with the Aina. Living Pono. All our trainings are retreats, which means that you will sleep, eat & stay at Aloha House, Ohana-style! Accommodation is sharing & meals are vegetarian.
Let me tell you a little bit about each “level” of training:
Level 1 & 2 is a 4 day retreat which introduces you to the principles of Lomi Lomi massage & the full body techniques. This is your introduction to Lomi Lomi & is not certified, although you can practice on family & friends.
INVESTMENT: €750 (including meals & accommodation)

Level 3 is a 4 day retreat which goes deeper into the spiritual teachings of Hawaiian Healing, underbody & side-lying techniques, hot stones & joint rotations. Your certificate as Lomi Lomi Practitioner allows you to practice professionally, provided you are already a qualified massage therapist (ITEC or equivalent).
INVESTMENT: €750 (including meals & accommodation)

Level 4 is a 4 day retreat for the Advanced Lomi Lomi Practitioner. We focus on YOU as the practitioner, so that you are able to hold more space & mana for healing to unfold in your treatments. We learn bone-washing & skeletal techniques, Kahi Loa & shamanic tools for transformation.
INVESTMENT: €850 (including meals & accommodation)

About Your Teacher - Louise Kleu McEvoy
I am very honoured to be able to share this beautiful healing work with you, especially since it has meant so much to me on my personal journey & continues to enrich my life on a daily basis. My story with Lomi Lomi started in 2000 when I met my first teacher Anthea Hardwick in South Africa. She had been travelling abroad & brought back Hawaiian massage to my home country. I apprenticed with her for 4 years before being called to Hawai’i, where I completed my Teacher’s Training with Susan Pa’inui Floyd.
After years of teaching, I was called to Ireland in 2008 after meeting my Irish husband. I later completed my Mastership in Lomi Lomi with my third teacher Jeana Naluaui of Ho’omana. Over the years I’ve added to my knowledge by studying other forms of bodywork & Yoga. However, my greatest teachers are -Experience, Intuition & my children! I continue to work on my Self as I navigate my way through this amazing life. I feel blessed to be able to practice the tools that Hawaiian healing has given me, to share these with you, to create an Ohana & community that is supportive, based on the Aloha Spirit.

What Should I Bring?

Who Can Learn Lomi Lomi Massage?
Anybody can learn lomi lomi massage. This training is for massage therapists who wish to practice professionally, as well as those who are interested in massage for family use. This training is also about learning more about your own body & energy, for personal development.
What about Insurance for practicing Massage?
Each country has particular laws for professional massage practice. In Ireland, you will need a Diploma in Massage (ITEC or equivalent) in order to add Lomi Lomi as one of your therapies. You can do the training whether or not you are a massage therapist, however for insurance you will need a professional qualification including Anatomy & Physiology.
I’ve had other teachers…do I need to start at Level 1?
Lomi Lomi has different styles & lineages. Even if within the same lineage, different teachers have their own experiences which influence the training. It is wonderful to learn from different teachers & it is advisable to start at the beginning with each.
Why is the training held as a “retreat”?
The nature of healing work lends itself to participants learning retreat-style. This way, we can spend more time together, focus completely on the work without having to go home and cook the dinner etc. The hours of training are often early mornings & late nights, so staying at the venue makes it more practical. It’s also an opportunity to make human connections & establish Ohana.
