Aerial Yoga Killorglin runs weekly classes in Aerial Yoga for both beginners and intermediate students in our beautiful Namasté studio at Aloha House. Our studio is professionally-rigged to the highest safety standards & can hold a maximum of 10 students in the hammocks. With underfloor heating and a view of our lovely gardens, this is a wonderful place to connect with the body, mind & breath!
What Is It?
Aerial Yoga is a fusion of classical yoga asanas & aerial movements, with the use of a silk hammock that is suspended from the ceiling. There is a huge range of different positions and ways to use the hammock, so the variety of movement possibilities is extensive. This makes aerial yoga unique & challenging for the body, as well as fun & experimental. Aerial Inversions are particularly unique & offers the spine an opportunity to "decompress" and the organs to detoxify.
How Will You Feel?
Aerial Yoga is challenging & exciting for the body, but also mentally & emotionally. You may face some fears of being off the ground or upside down. You may also feel exhilirated for the same reason, and the sense of achievement is significant. Aerial Yoga also taps in to the "inner child" as there is a playfulness & lightness in some of the movements. If you are an athlete or have a good fitness level, you may find this class is surprisingly challenging as different muscles are used & gravity has a part to play. There is a rumour going around that Aerial Yoga has strong anti-ageing properties!
Aerial Yoga is not suitable for anyone with serious high or low blood pressure, glaucoma, osteoporosis, actute injuries or broken bones, vertigo or herniated discs.
